About my practice

As an Educational Psychologist my work over time has focused on well-being, prevention, and healing. I am often in awe at the resilience and ability of people to not only cope, but to thrive in the face of life’s challenges and hardships. I do know however that there is a valuable place for therapy and other psychological interventions in today’s world. This is especially true in relation to trauma, chronic illness and coping, assessments of academic and work challenges as well as challenges experienced in families. As such my special interests lie in assisting adults who face significant stressors, families in divorce, sexual abuse allegations and children who are struggling in the classroom (social, emotional, and academic challenges, concessions/ accommodations). Liaising with teachers and other professionals is an important part of the work that I do. In this way the person’s needs can be viewed and addressed in a more holistic manner. Providing a platform for objective psycho-legal assessments (court related matters) and mediation (Parenting Plans) also assists families in divorce (with a focus on the best interests of the children) is also part of the assistance that my practice offers. Supervising intern psychologists over the past approximately 13 years has been a privilege.

Furthermore my experience covers assisting children who present with manifestations consistent with oppositional behaviour, Autism spectrum, chronic illness such as cancer and diabetes.
